Online radio listeners of Virgin Radio Dubai were in for a rude shock Tuesday morning after it emerged that the website was hacked.

Why was the website breached?

An online hacker who is know by the Twitter handle OxAlien claims he hacked the radio station because he believes the United Arab Emirates “are ashamed to see dancers, singers and bling-bling whores coming here to spread their filth in our country.”

Virgin Radio Dubai is known for sponsoring large concerts featuring western artists like Britney Spears or Justin Bieber. The hacker stated he was participating in “hactivism.”
He also added that whenever westerners perform in the United Arab Emirates, “95 percent of Twitter users are angry.”

A statement on OxAlien’s website reads:

“We the noble citizens of the United Arab Emirates are ashamed to see singers, dancers and bling-bling whores coming here to spread their filth in our country. It's a shame really. We can't do anything except protest on Twitter whenever you dumb turds pay hundreds of thousands of cash just to sponsor a singer.

“Your database is with me,” the statement added. “I'll sell the admin login script in the black market to get some cash.”

The Arabian Radio Network, the parent company of Virgin Radio Dubai, told XPRESS on conditions of anonymity that police have already launched their investigation. No further information is available at this time.
