English Defence League (EDL) leader Tommy Robinson arrested over Lee Rigby march:

Mr Robinson and EDL co-leader Kevin Carroll were detained on suspicion of obstructing officers as the group tried to stage an alleged charity walk.

The group were trying to stage a walk believed to be heading to Woolwich Barracks, the spot where Drummer Rigby was murdered in May, that went past the East London Mosque.

The Metropolitan Police had yesterday said anyone trying to march to Woolwich would be arrested and imposed a route that ended near the House of Lords.

An EDL Twitter post
On the EDL Twitter page, the group said: "Tommy Robinson & Kev Caroll arrested for obstructing the police and carted off."

EDL claimed 'negotiations' were taking place for Mr Robinson and Mr Carroll's release and that they still hoped to walk to Woolwich to lay flowers.
