Boko Haram has kidnapped another 60 women and girls – some as young as 3 years old -- as well as 31 boys in a four-day siege on a village that left 30 of the men dead.
Food supplies were looted, telecommunications systems were bombed in the June 18 raid on Kummabza, located in the Borno state in northeastern Nigeria. Reports of the raid have just recently surfaced.
Many survivors, with no form of transportation, were forced to trek 25 kilometers away to reach the neighboring state of Adamawa to let people know what happened.
Those too weak to make the long walk are in dire need of humanitarian assistance as the terrorists burned down the village and took all the food. Water has also been cut off to the area.
Boko Haram entered the village dressed as soldiers. Those who tried to escape were immediately shot, according to reports.
“They took away 60 women, including small girls, after holding the village hostage for four days and killing 30 men," said a local official, who refused to be identified, fearing reprisals by the Islamist militant group.
"They set the whole village on fire while they were leaving after carting away all the foodstuff from the barns," the official said.
Nigerian security forces originally denied that the attacks had happened, but an officer eventually confirmed the kidnappings to the media.
