India: Muslim leader executed for jihad attack praised jihad-martyrdom suicide bombers, called for jihad against India

A new book, ‘Shaheed Afzal Guru- His Last Message’, which is a compilation of letters written by Guru before the hanging, eulogises suicide bombers and calls ‘jihad’ the only solution to “liberate Kashmir from shackles of India”.
Referring to the phrase ‘means define the end and the end does not define the means’ frequently, Guru is quoted by the author calling for ‘renewed jihad’ in page after page in the 94-page book.
“Our immediate and pressing problem is Indian militarisation. Our lives, property and dignity are not safe till their presence here. It’s incumbent upon all resort to jihad as per the Quran,” writes Guru in the book, which was released by separatist outfit National Front (NF) on Monday in Srinagar in presence of Guru's relatives.
NF head Nayeem Khan, who is a constituent of Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has praised the book saying “it will motivate the new generation”.
The book is a compilation of his letter and essays written to separatist leader Dr Muhammad Shafi Khan Shariati, an assistant professor and former spokesman of banned militant outfit Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen. The book was complied inside the Central Jail Srinagar.
Shariati, also the author of the biography of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, chairman of another Hurriyat faction, titled ‘SAS Geelani – A history and a movement’, was arrested in 2011 in central Kashmir, after being on the run for two decades.
“Just one month and 20 days before he (Guru) was hanged, he send this message to the suppressed and enslaved nation. Except for punctuation mistakes, the text has been reproduced as it is,” writes Shariati.
Guru’s book does not refer to the 2001 Parliament attack, for which he was convicted and hanged on February 9 this year. However, he showers praises on slain Jash-e-Muhammad commander Ghazi Baba, who security agencies believe was behind the attack.
His family and many writers and activists, Booker Prize-winning novelist Arundhati Roy among them, believe Guru was framed.
“Srinagar youth Afaq Shah (a suicide bomber) was a disciple of Ghazi Baba, who turned his vehicle into a missile when he rammed it into the Badamibagh Cantonment killing 25-30 soldiers. If the youth follow them and match their status, Indian soldiers will leave Kashmir in one year,” writes Guru.
He also praises the fighting spirit of Taliban for “shaking the invincible image of the NATO” and described its chief Mullah Omar as “Amir-ul-Mumineen (leader of the faithful)”.
He underlines that “Kashmir jihad should liberate itself from Pakistan’s wrong policies also”.
Claiming that new Kashmir generation “will not fall for Gandhi-ism or Karzai-ism”, Guru writes that the new generation has already rejected “coward separatist leadership guarded by Indian security shield”.
“Valley is boiling in blood. No Sheikh Abdullah (NC founder) can sell it this time. The valley youth has decided for the path of militancy as they are left with no other option,” he writes.

He also questions the role of the NGOs claiming “they are working for the security agencies”. “From orphanages to schools, India army and the NGOs floated by the security agencies have usurped everything,” he says.
