Michigan Muslim Capitol Day returns to Lansing: -sponsor is the Council on American-Islamic Relations' Michigan chapter.

Lansing — Hundreds of people are expected to participate in a daylong event at the state Capitol during which Muslims from across Michigan interact with state lawmakers and other leaders.
Michigan Muslim Capitol Day is set for Tuesday.

The event is designed to cultivate relationships with lawmakers and other community members and encourage policies that promote civil rights and liberties.

The day's scheduled events include attending state House and Senate sessions as well as meeting with legislators.

The event is organized by the Michigan Muslim Community Council and a co-sponsor is the Council on American-Islamic Relations' Michigan chapter.
